Why install a Room Thermostat?

A room thermostat simply switches the heating system on and off as neccessary. It works by sensing the air temperature,
switching on the heating when the air temperature falls below the thermostat setting and switching it off once this set temperature has been reached.

Why install Thermostatic Radiator Valves?  (TRV's)

TRV's sense the air temperature around them and regulate the flow of hot water entering the radiators to keep a set room temperature.
They can help you save money and energy, by allowing you to set lower temperatures in some rooms than in others and to turn off
the heating in rooms that are not being used.

In the majority of cases TRV's can not turn the boiler off when the whole house has reache the desired temperature(s).
To do that, you will need a Room thermostat as well

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some examples of questions we get asked regulary.
What is A Condensing Combination Boiler?
(Combi Boiler)

A combi is as the name suggests, a high efficient water heater and central heating boiler combined in a single unit.
Water is heated on demand from within the unit itself, so a combi boiler (unlike a conventional boiler -
which typically requires a copper cylinder in an airing cupboard to store hot water) can be a practical solution if space
within your home is at a premium. Combi boilers are typically compact and they wouldn't look out of place hung on a kitchen wall.
The absence of a storage cylinder means that significant savings on heating water can be made. Although the rate at which hot water
is produced may be slightly slower than with a conventional boiler, hot water is nevertheless delivered through your taps or shower
head at mains pressure. this may mean you can enjoy a high pressure "Power" shower without the need for an aditional pump.

Which boiler manufacturer do you recommend?

We can supply and install any type of boilers. We will assess your individual needs and advise on a suitable boiler. There are several very good central heating boiler manufacturers on the market. We usually recommend an A - rated Baxi / Main boiler for their performance, reliability and efficiency, but we have also found Worcester / Bosch boilers to be equally good in terms of performance and size.

What is flushing?

Flushing is a process by which heating systems are cleansed from sludge. The process makes no mess and causes minimal disturbance to your property, though some radiators may need to be removed.
At the end of the power flushing process, the system contains fresh clean water and is treated with inhibitor to prevent further build up.

Does my heating system need to be Flushed?

All central heating systems will inevitably get clogged up with Black iron oxide 'Sludge' due to corrosion in the system.
This can cause many problems, example :

> Radiators cold at the bottom.
> Radiators need bleeding on a regular basis.
> Radiators not working at all due to blocked valves / pipework
> Boiler overheating due to blocked pump.
> Noisy boiler due to a sludge build up.

If there is Black or Brown water present when bleeding radiators or draining the system it points to sludge building up.

 Why have you'r boiler serviced?

Servicing of gas appliances such as boilers and fires is very important and helps to enhance the life of your appliance.
Servicing also prevents the threat of carbon monoxide poisoning from 'faulty' appliances, as hidden dangers that can be easily rectified can be
identified during the service, such as gas leaks, faulty safety devices and blocked chimneys / ventilation or flues.
It is recommended that Servicing of any Gas Appliances, should be carried out Annually and ONLY by Gas Safe registered engineers.
